Ain’t We Funkin’ Now – Brothers Johnson

This is it folks, time to set the weekend up for good music, food and of course good times.
“Flashback Friday,” ends this week with the Brothers Johnson.
The group started out as The Johnson Three plus One, while they were still in school. Like the last band, they did a lot of back up for top R&B and Soul artists such as Bobby Womack, the Supremes, and Billy Preston.
The brothers were christened “Thunder Thumb,” and “Lightin’ Licks,” because of their talent on the bass and lead guitar respectively.
Their fortune took off once they partnered with none other than Quincy Jones. They were first hired by Jones to play on one of his albums and for his 1976 Japanese tour. After that he produced their first album “Lookout For Number One,” and they would score a number one and three positions from the album. During the late 1970s and early 80s, they scored several number one hits.
Let us close this Friday’s session with the Brothers Johnson and “Ain’t We Funkin’Now. “
You have yourself a wonderful and memorable weekend and catch either on “
Soulful Sunday,” or next week.
