Cold Blooded – Rick James


James Ambrose Johnson, aka Rick James, lived the life of his first major hit “Super Freak.” The thing about Rick James his the wildlife did not start with his success. It started much earlier and could have been because of his father’s abandonment of the family when he was very young.
Where Jimmy Hendricks is known as one of the pioneers of the Rock guitar, Rick James is known for fusing Funk, with Punk music.
His Uncle Melvin Franklin was a member of The Temptations was instrumental in getting him a contract with Motown Records. There is thought that he signed with Motown at a time when the label was struggling and he helped put them back on the charts with some of the songs that he wrote or co-wrote with Smokey Robinson.
