Disco Lights – Dexter Wansel

Some of the songs I selected today would be classified Disco by a lot of mainstream music fans, but the Dance music that would dominate the Radio and Dance Halls would be House. A sound that started in the 1970s and pioneered by producers like Giorgio Moroder, Cerrone and artists like Donna Summers, Bjorn, Madonna and Janet Jackson. Listen to the beat, which is very close to what is termed Disco, but it is actually House.
My last artist is Dexter Wansel. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it is not surprising that he was one of the influences on the growth of The Sounds of Philadelphia (TSOP). In fact, as a songwriter, and producer, he has worked with most if not all of the major acts at Philadelphia International Records.
He has also worked with artists not associated with Philadelphia International Records, like Jermaine Jackson.
He was also a member of the group Yellow Sunshine. That is when he met the founders of Philadelphia International Record, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff.
Since then he has produced and written for several major artists and released his own singles and albums.
Here is Dexter Wansel with “Disco Lights.”
Signing off for today wishing you a fantastic and fun weekend. Filled with great music and good friends.
