Earlier I mentioned Jimmy Jam and Terry Terry Lewis who are considered one of the top production teams, next to Gamble and Huff. They were members of my last group for this “Flashback Friday.”
The Time of Morris Day and The Time or The Original 7ven, were a Prince project, if not his first musical project. Morris Day the lead singer for the group was a close friend and collaborator with Prince.
He stamped his persona on the group, under the guidance of Prince. An interesting tidbit about the group’s first album is that only Morris Day is featured on the album. The rest of the instruments are recorded by Prince, under the pseudonym “Jamie Starr.
The group became a household name after the success of the movie “Purple Rain,” in which they had a small appearance.
As I sign off here is The Time with “Jerk Out.”
Have a great weekend folks and don’t forget to share my website with other lovers of R&B, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Disco and Dance. We will always keep it real and bring you the music that reflected a generation.
