Alright, we are moving into the House music era. My next selection was probably the first House music song to make it on the American Dance charts.
The group Technotronic was the idea of Jo Baegert, a displaced American, who moved to Belgium with the vision of becoming a music producer.
His thought was to take the heavy bass and dance grooves and mix them with Hip-Hop. He pulled together a multicultural group with Zarian born rapper Da Kid K on lead. Originally the song was an instrumental called Technotronic, but when they added vocals it would become the number that crossed over on the Pop charts both in Europe and the United States.
The name of the group also became Technotronic. Let’s listen to “Pump Up The Jam.”
