As stated earlier I will pay tribute to one of the greatest Gospel, R&B, and Soul artists of our time, Aretha Franklin. I read recently that she feared being forgotten. With all the number one hits she has given us over five decades, I don’t think that will ever happen.
I am not certain why Aretha chose to write the song Rock Steady, but to anyone from Jamaica knows, before Reggae, there was a genre in the island called Rock Steady. It was the beginning of Jamaican artists using the influence of American Soul and the emerging sound that would become Reggae.
This is my sign off until Sunday when we speak the language of love with “Soulful Sunday.”
Let us listen to the “Queen of Soul and “Rock Steady.”
If you are enjoying the songs please share with friends and family. The more likes I see the more I am encouraged.
