En Vogue was again conceived in the studio, to be an R&B, Soul group similar to the girl groups back in the 1950s and 60s. Each member had to have strong vocals and attractive. Over 3,000 singers tried out to be a member. Eventually, four females with strong vocal cords and stage presences were chosen.
Over the years members have left and returned making the group sometimes a quartet and sometimes a trio. Since 1997, it has been like that, but predominantly a trio.
In 2008, the original members would unite to appear on BET Awards and perform a tribute to the female groups of the 1990s. Critics wrote that it was the highlight of the whole night.
Here is En Vogue with their version of “Silent Night (Happy Holiday Mix).”
