Well as stated earlier I am back in Ottawa and it is cold, but sunny but as long as I have my R&B, Soul, Funk and Dance music I will keep warm.
For my last selection for this “Flashback Friday,” I am going to jump from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Robert Sylvester Kelly or simply R. Kelly is considered the most successful R&B artist of all times by Billboard. His nicknames are the “King of R&B and the “King of Pop-Soul.”
He has sold over 70 million records and has worked with several artists like Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight, Whitney Houston and Aliyah.
Most people, of course, will not remember that this brother can not only sing, but he has written and produced some phenomenal songs and numerous awards he has won, including a Guinness World Record. What they will remember are the numerous charges concerning having sex with minors and his marriage to Aliyah who was 15 at the time. Except for the marriage to Aliyah, which her family got annulled, all of the other charges have been dropped.
R.Kelly is not as popular as he was in the 1990s, but he is still performing and recording music.
Let’s sign off with R.Kelly and “Step In The Name Of Love.”
See you next Friday when we relive the best of R&B, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Disco and Dance.
