Closing off on a happy note, I want to wish you a funky and soulful weekend and what better way to close off the session than with one of the first bands to be classified as disco, The Trammps.
We are flying across the country to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Philadelphia International Records is located and the Sound Of Philadelphia began with Ken Gamble and Leon Huff.
The group started out as The Volcanoes, but later changed it to The Moods, finally settling with The Trammps. Although they started in the “City of Brotherly Love,” they did not sign with Philadelphia International Records started recording at Sigma Studios and Salsoul Records. After Salsoul, they would sign with a label, New York-based, Atlantic Records.
During 1975, The Trammps was to become Atlantic Records hottest Disco band and released their big hit “Where Happy People Go.”
Here are The Trammps with “Where Happy People Go.”
I told you I would sign off with a happy tune.
