Then Came You – Dionne Warwick and The Spinners

Wow, can you believe we are almost at the end of October? The weeks seem to be passing quicker, and just like the month, we are already at “Flashback Friday. It is a beautiful Fall day outside and the temperature is supposed to rise to about 17C. No to my followers south of the Tropic of Cancer that does not mean much to you, but to us north of Cancer that is warm for this time of year. We can actually go outside without a jacket.
This week I am starting off with a different type of duet. Instead of your usual two, man and woman, man and man or woman and woman, this is a woman with a group.
Dionne Warwick who had several major hits with Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs back in the 1960s started to lose her shine in the early part of the 1970s. She and her Record Label, Warner Bros, decided to pair her with one of the top R&B, Soul groups at the time, The Spinners.
Both of the artists benefited from the union. “Then Came You,” gave Dionne her first R&B Number two in a long time and The Spinners had their first Number One Pop charts hit.
Let us get this party on the road and listen to Then Came You,” with Dionne Warwick and The Spinners.
