If there was a Godfather of Soul then it is only right that there would be a Godmother. Well to some of us Patti Labelle is that person. There are a few R&B, Soul, Blues, and Rock artists that you can close your eyes and recognize when someone plays there songs. Mick Jagger, James Brown, Sam Cooke, B.B. King, Otis Redding, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, and Patti Labelle. There are many others but these easily come to mind.
Patti must have recorded in just about every genre, but the one that always captures me is when she sings a Gospel song and that includes Christmas songs.
