Most of you, if not all will remember this next song from the movie “Purple Rain,” the semi-biography of Prince Rogers Nelson or simply Prince.
Prince died April 2016, from an overdose of Fentanyl. A drug more potent than Morphine. The world lost another bright star and musical genius that year.
Prince’s music before “Purple Rain,” was very suggestive and more into the Pop-Funk genre of music. Especially the album released by Warner Bros. Dirty Mind.” There is no other way to describe the album than sexually explicit. The next album “Controversy,” carried on where “Dirty Mind,” left off. Both albums showcased Prince’s musical exploration with Pop, Funk, and New Wave. All four albums presented this new artist to the world and then he hit us with “1999,” that is when Prince crossed over with the title song “1999.” That was definitely a defining moment in Prince’s rise. “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” and “Delirious,” would be the big numbers off that album.
“Purple Rain,” however would be his most successful album.
Here is Prince Rogers Nelson with “When Doves Cry.”
